About Nampa Idaho: History: The city of Nampa Idaho began to develop in the early 1880's as a railroad town and was incorporated in 1890. The Oregon Short Line Railroad built a line from Granger, Wyoming, to Huntington, Oregon and it passed through what is now Nampa. Soon more railroad lines would run through Nampa creating a center of railroad activity. The railroad lines brought people to the area causing Nampa to grow rapidly. Nampa's population was estimated at 91,382 in 2016. Arts & Culture: Nampa is home to Northwest Nazarene University and College of Western Idaho. Nampa Recreation Center The facility is 140,000 square foot featuring a six-pool aquatics center, three gymnasiums, six racquetball courts, a walking/running track, a weight room and exercise equipment, a climbing wall, aerobic and gymnastic centers, dance and ballet rooms, art and craft facilities, snack area and a play center, as well as a senior citizen wing. Ford Idaho Center This venue hosts Rodeos, Concerts, Monster Truck Rallies, Horse Shows, etc. The venue includes and Amphitheater, Horse Park, and the Center Arena. The Amphitheater seats 10,500, and has a 60 feet x 40 feet stage. The Horse Park covers 110 acres and can house 850 horses. The horse park boasts an indoor arena, outdoor arena, warm up pens, stock pens. stalls. The Center Arena is home to the Snake River Stampede seats 12,279 and is 120,000 square feet. Sawtooth Winery The Snake River Valley of Idaho is home to some amazing wineries including Sawtooth Winery of Nampa. Known for their Riesling, Pinot Gris, Syrah, Merlot and Tempranillo.
